Mile2 was organized in 2008. Mile2® administers its certification exams through the MACS (Mile2 Assessment and Certification System) system via Mile2.com. Mile2 certification courses teach the fundamental and advanced principles of cyber security and follows a course/certification track that leads to advanced hands-on skills training for penetration testing, disaster recovery, incident handling and network forensics. Mile2 also provides Information Assurance services that meet military, government, private sector and institutional specifications.
Mile2 is known for their robust list of cyber security certifications for prominent global organizations such as:
Mile2 courseware has been approved by the Committee on National Security Systems (CNSS) National Training Standards. The Information Assurance Courseware Evaluation (IACE) Program provides consistency in technology training and education for the information assurance industry. The NSA/CSS is home to America’s code makers and code breakers.
Mile2 Client History
Mile2’s technology training classes have become the de facto standard for US, EU, Australian and Asian military services with dedicated classes being delivered to the US and Royal Air Force, Marines, Army and National Guard. Mile2 has also taught personnel from the United Nations, NATO, intelligence agencies, Government personnel and many fortune 100 companies. In addition, Mile2 has served over 10,000 private sector organizations and individuals in the finance, banking, insurance, oil and gas, telecommunications, charities, banking, insurance, health, communications, transport, law enforcement and education industries that place a high premium on Information Security.
Mile2 course curriculum and exam certification tracks were developed by Mile2 and its security partners to address the training needs of IT professionals responsible for the executing penetrating tests, network security analysis, and audits; thus going well beyond the basic security, hacking and forensics courses previously available. Mile2 courses include intensive hands-on labs and case studies to validate the participants understanding and hands-on competency with an emphasis on the methodology, practices, and techniques for assessing and verifying security vulnerabilities in networks, applications and databases.
Mile2 courses distinguish between hackers and professional Penetration testers and the procedures followed by the latter in assessing the vulnerabilities of computer systems. The Mile2 security courses are designed to develop the candidate’s understanding of security methodology and the skills necessary for a professional to perform high profile initiatives such as penetration testing to verify system threats and vulnerabilities. Unlike other courses that focus on ‘how to’ of hacking (i.e. techniques and tools used by script kiddies to compromise systems), these courses place equal emphasis on ‘how to’ of professional penetration testing.
Mile2 Instructor, Courseware & Labs
The mile2 philosophy is to deliver and employ instructors who eat, sleep and drink security. They practice what they teach by performing commercial penetration tests. The mile2 material is updated continuously and is printed on-demand; keeping our students abreast to monthly security changes. The mile2 course contains in-depth labs designed to thoroughly emulate counter hacking scenarios faced in the real world.
Mile2, CPE credit Accreditation
Mile2 classes can be submitted to (ISC)2 for CISSP and SSCP continuing professional education (CPE) credits.
Mile2 is a highly-recognized provider of Information Security training and consulting services that exceed military, government, private sector and institutional specifications. Mile2 training has become the de facto standard for many commercial and military organizations around the world by providing their clientele access to some of the best Information Security courseware and instructors in the industry!
C)PTE – Certified Penetration Testing Engineer (Covers CEH)
This 5-day course which was originally designed for the United States Air Force is built upon proven hands-on Penetration Testing methodologies as utilized by our international group of vulnerability consultants. The CPTE-Engineer course presents information on the latest vulnerabilities and defenses. This class also enhances the business skills needed to identify protection opportunities, justify testing activities and optimize security controls appropriate to the business needs to reduce risk. This class also enhances the business skills needed to identify protection opportunities, justify testing activities and optimize security controls appropriate to the business needs in order to reduce business risk. Mile2 goes far beyond simply teaching you to “Hack” — the norm with the classes that have been available until now. Our course is developed based on principles and methods used by malicious hackers, but its focus is professional penetration testing and securing information assets. This course prepares the student to pass the mile2’s CPTS Engineer certificate as well as EC-Councils CEH.
C)DFE – Certified Digital Forensics Examiner
This 5-day course was originally designed on behalf of United States Police objectives and is essential to anyone encountering digital evidence while conducting an investigation. This computer forensics training course is designed to train cyber crime investigators, teaching electronic discovery and advanced investigation techniques. The student will focus on hands on labs with both open source tools such as FTK as well as 3rd party forensics tools known in the electronic discovery and forensics industry. This course will prepare the student to pass mile2’s CDFE exam.
C)ISSO – Information Systems Security Officer (Covers CISSP)
The C)ISSO is a 5 day course and was originally designed to meet DND ISSO objectives. The C)ISSO is a premier security certification and one of the most difficult certifications to achieve, making training an important part of exam preparation. The C)ISSO is designed to ensure a solid understanding of the popular 10 Security Domains areas. Students will learn about security policy development, secure software development procedures, network vulnerabilities, attack types and corresponding countermeasures, cryptography concepts and their uses, disaster recovery plans and procedures, risk analysis, crucial laws and regulations, forensics basics, computer crime investigation procedures, and physical security. This course and certification is closely aligned with the everyday needs of a security manager and ensure the certified officer has a complete and authoritative level of knowledge that will enable them to direct, design, and maintain a strong information security program that will support business operations and compliance requirements. This certification leads the way in an area also addressed by the ISACA CISM and CRISC, and (ISC)2 CISSP and ISSMP program. Mile2’s “in-depth” course focuses on the preparation of passing both mile2’s C)ISSO and IC2’s CISSP exam.
C)SWAE – Certified Secure Web Application Engineer
This 5 Day course was originally developed for Boeing Aerospace. The C)SWAE certification addresses one of the most serious gaps in the information security market today, vulnerabilities in web applications and architecture. The majority of data breaches are the result of vulnerabilities in web applications. Web developers are not usually aware of the security issues threats and vulnerabilities that plague web application and are not provided access to the training that would enable them to design, develop, test and deploy secure web applications. Other certifications in the field of web application security include the (ISC)2 CSSLP.
Other Mile2 course Certifications:
C)DRE – Certified Disaster Recovery Engineer
C)IHE – Certified Incident Handler Engineer
C)PTC – Certified Penetration Testing Consultant
C)SCE – Certified Secure Code Engineer
